Proverbs 11

Proverbs 11
24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
   another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
 25 A generous person will prosper;
   whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

These verses mean that people who share their wealth and help others will eventually get blessed
and have even more wealth to help the poor. These people will be rewarded for their kind actions
while those who are not willing to share will be poor.

Action Steps:
1: Share my things for the people who are in need.
2: Encourage people who have low self-esteem.

Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10
8 The wise in heart accept commands,
   but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
21 The lips of the righteous nourish many,
   but fools die for lack of sense.

These verses mean that wise people listen while foolish people whine. Righteous people speak good things to others and refresh them while foolish people who lack common sense say strange things and get embarrassed. For example, Abraham accepted the command of God to kill his son and got a reward. On the other hand, people who chatted foolish things when Noah was building the ark died when the great flood killed them.

Action Steps:
1: listen to people in authority and respect them.
2: say good things others and encourage them.

Proverbs 9

 Proverbs 9:17~18
17 “Stolen water is refreshing;
      food eaten in secret tastes the best!”
 18 But little do they know that the dead are there.
      Her guests are in the depths of the grave.

These verses mean that temptations or things that people get in an easy way (stolen water & food eaten in secret) may seem pleasing and sweet, but in the end the consequences are going to be bad. These are caused by lack of good judgment and thus people should have wisdom and follow teachings of God.

Action Steps:
1. Be wise and make good judgments.
2. Do not get tempted by temporarily pleasing things.

Proverbs 8

Proverbs 8:13
To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech.
This verse means that if you follow God, you will avoid pride, arrogance, and many other evil things.
Pride and arrogance make people haughty and make them think they're better than anyone else.
Evil behavior and perverse speech may ruin harmony and peace with others.

Action Steps:
1. Stay humble at all times even if I have something better.
2. Avoid evil and watch the language I use.

This CNN article features on the world's smallest frog found in Papua New Guinea. I think it is a good feature story because it deals with a light topic (a frog), and how it was found by Christopher Austin, an associate professor at Louisiana State University. The article describes the frog very well and how important the discovery was. The discovery of this frog can be very worthy any time of the year and can be said that it is a timeless article.

This CNN article features grandmother who says that no family member is responsible for the disappearance of the missing child in Maine. I think it is a good feature story because it focuses on one person and her anecdotes. The article tells how the grandmother allowed police to investigate her without a warrant.
